Jabari Smith who was projected to be the 1st overall pick in this year’s draft was drafted with the 3rd overall pick by the Houston Rockets.
There was a huge change in the draft order which nobody saw coming. Everyone thought that Jabari Smith would be drafted with the 1st overall pick by the Orlando Magic, but Orlando drafted Paolo Banchero instead.
The Oklahoma City Thunder who had the 2nd overall pick stuck to their plan and drafted Chet Holmgreen instead of going after Jabari.
The Houston Rockets jumped on this opportunity and drafted Jabari Smith with the 3rd overall pick. Even though Jabari didn’t get drafted first, he has found himself in a much better situation in Houston rather than Orlando.
How will the Houston Rockets look with Jabari Smith?
The inclusion of Jabari Smith wasn’t planned by the Rockets, but this could turn out to be a very good outcome. They already have Alperen Sengun at the center position, and Jabari will slot perfectly at the 4.
The Rockets now have a young core of Jalen Green, Jabari Smith, Kevin Porter Jr., Alperen Sengun, etc. and their squad looks stacked with young stars. Jabari has drawn comparisons with Kevin Durant due to his excellent two-way play, and the Houston fans will be excited about having him on board.
