Rockets guard Kevin Porter Jr. hits buzzer-beater 3 which proved to be the game winner against the Wizards
Kevin Porter Jr. marked his return with a game-winning 3 pointer against Washington Wizards. Kevin and Christian Wood were suspended by the Rockets franchise for 1 game. Both players were available for the match against Washington Wizards and proved to be difference makers for the Rockets.
Porter Jr. had a heated argument with the Rockets’ assistant coach John Lucas during halftime of the game against the Denver Nuggets. Kevin even left the area and didn’t return for the rest of the game. Wood on other hand was suspended for failing to show up for the team’s daily Covid-19 test.
Both players were back from suspension and produced game-winning performances for the team. Christian Wood had a double-double with 22 points and 11 rebounds, where Kevin drained a long-range shot in the dying seconds of the game.
Porter had possession with the game tied with over 15 seconds to go in the 4th quarter. Kevin let the clock run down to 7 seconds and took the help of the screen to switch from the primary defender. He decided to shoot from the 3 point line with just 2.2 seconds left in the game.
The Wizards guard Raul Neto gave him ample space to set for the shot and Kevin took full advantage hitting a 3-pointer with the shot clock winding down to zero. The bucket gave the Rockets the 114-111 win at Capital One Arena.
Porter already had tough shooting against the Wizards in the game converting just 2 of 12 from the field before the winner. But his final shot will be memorable for him. He finished the game with 9 points, 8 assists, and 7 rebounds.
Houston Rockets have bettered their poor record to 11-28 and will host in-form Dallas Mavericks next on 7th January.
