James Harden is expected to be out for a month with a reported tendon strain in his right foot
The Philadelphia 76ers star guard James Harden is out for a month due to a reported right foot tendon strain. Harden went down mid-game during the 76ers’ 121-111 loss to the Washington Wizards. This injury couldn’t have come at a worse time with Joel Embiid also currently injured.
The 76ers need all the help they can get in what has been a shaky start to the season. Luckily Harden is only out for a month and the injury is not that serious. Harden has looked quite good this season and has got back some of his scoring touch.
The 76ers might struggle to win games without both Harden and Embiid with Embiid’s return date currently unknown. It’ll be interesting to see how Tyrese Maxey plays with Embiid and Harden injured. Maxey is sure to get more shots and will probably carry the 76ers to some wins.
In addition to this, the 76ers have players like Tobias Harris, De’Anthony Melton and Montrezl Harrell who can use this chance to prove themselves. Tobias Harris has looked quite average to start the season and likely has the most to prove during this stretch.
Although James Harden’s injury sets the 76ers back, it probably won’t impact their season too much. If Joel Embiid comes back soon and Tyrese Maxey goes off, the 76ers will be fine. In addition to this, underperforming players like Tobias Harris and Montrezl Harrell have to step up during this time.
All three of the 76ers main players in Embiid, Harden and Maxey have looked good this season. The only thing is that the team needs to be healthy and supporting layers have to contribute more. As long as these things happen, the Philadelphia 76ers are a team to watch out for come playoff time.
