How long is Phoenix Suns’ new recruit Kevin Durant out for, and when will he line up for his new franchise?
The recently concluded NBA trade deadline day saw plenty of mind-boggling trades take place by the end of the working day. While Kyrie Irving made his way out of the Brooklyn Nets to Dallas in a shocking twist, it was soon revealed that his teammate Kevin Durant no longer wished to stay in Brooklyn – and was looking for a way out of the Nets already.
It was not long before it was reported that Durant would move from Brooklyn to the Phoenix Suns in the most shocking trade of the deadline day. While Chris B Haynes reported that the move was a collaborative one between Durant’s camp and the Nets, it was revealed the move to the Suns was something both sides were interested in, and he and the Nets left on good terms.
The 34-year-old Durant is still playing at an elite level, averaging nearly 30 points per game this season. While the Suns are currently fifth in the Western Conference with a 30-26 record, despite having had plenty of injury issues of late – the quartet of Durant, Devin Booker, Chris Paul and DeAndre Ayton immediately makes them a Championship contender team.
However, Suns fans – excited as they are as KD addressed them for the first time last night – will have to wait to see him in action as Durant is currently sidelined with an injury.
When will Kevin Durant play his first game for the Suns?
While it is not quite confirmed, it has been said that Durant will likely return to action following the All-Star break.
The excited Suns faithful will have to wait for Durant to make his debut with the 13-time All-Star currently recovering from a sprained knee ligament which has kept him out of a month. It has been reported that the three-time Olympic gold medallist will probably return to action after the All-Star break with the Suns hosting the Oklahoma City Thunder on 24 February.
The Suns who last made the final in their 2021 loss to the Milwaukee Bucks are currently 32-28 and look good to make the postseason.
