LeBron James is the only player in the NBA to win the NBA Championship with three different teams. But how many NBA rings does the veteran have?
Several NBA fans consider LeBron James as one of the greatest basketball players to have ever played the sport. The veteran small forward has won several accolades and titles during his time in the NBA and continues to be a force to reckon with.
LeBron remains one of the best players in the NBA and is currently plying his trade with the Los Angeles Lakers. And despite his team struggling to make the playoffs this year, LeBron has been the most influential performer for Frank Vogel’s side.
In this article, we look at the number of rings LeBron James has won and how he has managed to clinch glory with different franchises in the NBA. NBA rings are given to Championship winning team players, coaches, and members of the executive front office.
LeBron James began his NBA career in 2003 when he was the first overall pick by his hometown team, the Cleveland Cavaliers in that year’s NBA Draft. James quickly integrated himself as one of the key players on the team and led the Cavs to the NBA Finals in 2007. However, the Cavs suffered a crushing 4-0 defeat at the final hurdle against the San Antonio Spurs.
James eventually left the Cavs in 2010 and joined the Miami Heat. In his first season in Miami, LeBron led the team to the NBA Finals but the Heat was defeated by the Dallas Mavericks.
However, everyone knew that it wasn’t going to be long before James got his hands on an NBA Championship. And in 2012, James’ Heat tasted success for the first time in the NBA as they clinched the title by thrashing the Oklahoma Thunder 4-1 in the series.
James didn’t have to wait for too long to double his NBA titles as the Heat managed to defend their crown the following season against the Spurs in the 2013 NBA Finals. James and the Heat were then on course to make it a historical three-peat in 2014 but were denied by the Spurs in the NBA Finals that year.
LeBron then returned to his hometown Cleveland later in 2014 and guided the team to the NBA Finals once again in his first year back with the Cavs. However, there was heartbreak in store for LeBron and the Cavs, who suffered defeat against the Golden State Warriors in the NBA 2015 Finals.
But LeBron and the Cavs managed to get the better of the Warriors the following year at the 2016 NBA Finals to win the team’s first NBA championship in history. The Cavs won the Finals series 4-3 after coming back from 1-3 down against the Golden State.
The Cavs made it to the NBA Finals in 2017 and 2018 as well but were beaten by the Warriors on both occasions. In 2018, James then made the switch to the Los Angeles Lakers. In his second season with the Purple and Gold, LeBron helped the Lakers to the NBA Championship.
In total, LeBron James has won four NBA Championships to date. He won two rings with the Heat, one with the Cavs and one with the Lakers. James has taken part in 10 NBA Finals to date. However, the 37-year-old will be hoping to add to that number before calling it quits in the NBA.
LeBron James has four NBA rings to his name. Late NBA legend Kobe Bryant assembled five NBA rings during his 20-year stint with the Los Angeles Lakers. Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan ended his NBA career with six NBA rings.
In a career with honors and accolades filled to the brim, LeBron James has won four NBA titles and four NBA Finals MVP awards as well. He is an 18-time NBA All-Star and a three-time All-star Game MVP. LeBron also has two Olympic Gold medals to his name as well.
James is the only NBA player to have won the NBA Championship with three different teams. James has scored the most points in the playoffs, the second-most career points, and has the seventh-most career assists.
However, James is continuing to chase history in the league at 37 and showing no real signs of slowing down anytime soon.
