The NBA was not letting go of Golden State Warriors marquee scorer Stephen Curry easily as the 3-Point King was fined $25,000 for throwing away his mouthpiece into the stands late in the game against Memphis Grizzlies.
Although the defending champions edged past the Grizzlies on Wednesday day courtesy of a clutch layup by Jordan Poole, Steph was penalized for his action on Thursday by the league. For those who aren’t aware, the two-time MVP was handed a technical foul with 1:!4 left in the fourth quarter after he was frustrated by Jordan Poole taking a blind shot from distance.
“It was a crucial time in the game, and the way that our season has gone, questions about a heightened sense of urgency … when you want something really bad … I reacted in a way that put myself out of the game and put the team in a tough place,” Stephen Curry said after the game.
This wasn’t the first time Curry was ejected from an NBA game. Rather it was the third occasion where such a scenario had happened. Interestingly, all three of his ejections have included his valuable mouthpieces. In 2016, he threw it at the courtside seat whereas, in 2017, Curry threw it at a referee.
While Curry was fined, he would still be happy about his team winning that contest to keep the team among the Play-in tournament ranks.
