Antetokounpa began his career by playing for the youth teams of Filathlitikos, in Athens before entering the draft of the 2013 NBA season where he was picked by the Milwaukee Bucks as the 15th overall player when he was just 18 years old. Soon on October 13, 2013, he made his career debut in the NBA at the age of 18 years, 311 days as one of the youngest players ever.

During his rookie season, Giannis made 77 appearances in which he made a total number of 61 blocks. With regards to his performance, he was selected to participate in the Rising Star Challenge at NBA All-Stars Weekend held in New Orleans in which he earned 9 points within a span of 19 of 17 minutes which included two rebounds and two assists.
