Steph Curry was once again among the headlines after Jalen Rose called him the most influential player in the game right now, and called him a bigger influence to fans than LeBron James.
On an NBA talk show, the ex-NBA player turned analyst immediately agreed when he was asked whether the Golden State Warriors superstar is the most influential player in the game right now.
Rose backed up his answer by citing the example of LeBron James, often termed as the greatest in the game right now. According to Rose, when we look at the Los Angeles Lakers’ veteran superstar, we see a physical specimen who is still at the top of his game even at 38.
But on the contrary, Rose stated that when one sees Steph Curry, they exclaim “Him? We are the same height, we are the same build. I can be him.”
“That influence, plus his game and his championship pedigree, and getting his Finals MVP” makes Steph Curry the most influential player in the game right now according to Rose.
Is Rose right in his argument?
The 6’7” LeBron James is indeed a physical specimen who is still at the top of his game, and most recently signed a two-year extension to his Lakers deal despite nearing the twilight of his career, Curry stands at 6’2” and is much closer to the American and the world average.
Despite being a lot shorter than the NBA average, Curry has reinvented the sport in his own way before the Warriors superstar, players did not dare take a lot of shots from outside the arc, but Curry’s dominance in the shooting game has influenced a lot of players to be more ambitious.
The four-time NBA champion and two-time MVP is much more realistic of an icon rather than the larger-than-life specimen that LeBron is, and that is the point that Rose was trying to make.
