Where is NBA champion Dwight Howard going to play, and will he be playing in China?
Dwight Howard recently announced that he will go overseas for his next basketball adventure. The NBA veteran who last played for the Los Angeles Lakers is now a free agent, and it turns out that he will soon go overseas to get his next adventure underway. However, fans are asking one question–where is the former NBA champion going to play basketball?
It turns out that the 36-year-old Howard is going to play for the Taiwanese professional basketball team Taoyuan Leopards, as the former NBA champion announced on Monday night along with his thoughts on joining the side. “I am so, so excited, and I can’t wait to touch down in Taiwan and start playing,” Howard said as part of a social media post by the team.” Howard added: “I’m coming with open arms, with big hugs and big smiles.”
Another question that has done the rounds about Howard is if he is going to China to play the game–it turns out that he is not going to China but to Taiwan. The Taoyuan Leopards are a side that plays in the T1 League in Taiwan, and the side will be happy to have a veteran of Howard’s calibre.
What will Dwight Howard bring to the Leopards?
Howard will certainly bring experience and ability to the Taiwanese side, judging by his NBA career.
Since being drafted into the NBA by the Orlando Magic in 2004, Howard spent six straight years with the Magic–even helping them reach the NBA Finals. After eight years with the Magic, Howard was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers with whom he spent three separate one year-stints over the course of his career – and also won the NBA Championship as recently as in 2020.
During his career, Howard also turned out for the Houston Rockets, the Atlanta Hawks, the Charlotte Hornets, the Washington Wizards, and the Philadelphia 76ers and won eight All Star selections over the course of his career – adding to a career that will certainly help the Taiwanese side onto bigger things.
