Luka Doncic gets frank about pursuing LeBron James’ impending scoring record
The star of the Dallas Mavericks, Luka Doncic, acknowledges that it is always reasonable for someone to surpass LeBron James’ projected scoring record for the 2022–23 season. Anyone who believes he will carry out the plan should put their dreams to rest right away.
Just 485 points are required for James to beat Kareem Abdul-38,387-point Jabbar’s scoring record. He is on pace to break the scoring record during the next 16 or 17 games with his existing scoring average of 29.0 points per game. Doncic was questioned on Thursday on James’ impending scoring record and his intentions on going after it.
The Mavs star swiftly put an end to those discussions, emphasising that there is no way he will play for 20 or more years to have a chance at LeBron’s record. According to NBA journalist Landon Buford, Doncic stated this in jest, making the other reporters laugh: “It’s always a possibility, but it’s going to be really tough. You gotta have a guy that plays for 20 years…”

LeBron James has already entered his 20th NBA season, and it’s important to remember that Kareem Abdul-Jabbar also took 20 years to reach his scoring record.
