A question that begs to be asked is where would LeBron be if he pursued a different sport other than basketball?
LeBron James is one of the best players in the game of basketball at the moment, and many would claim he was destined to play the game right from when he was born.
That is what Shannon Sharpe and Skip Bayless had an in-depth conversation about in a recent episode of the NBA analysis show Undisputed: Skip and Shannon.
In a discussion after LeBron’s football highlights from his high school days were released from the archives, the question was asked that would LeBron have been an impact player in the NFL in some alternate universe where he would’ve continued with football than taking up basketball.
The highlights went viral since its release, as LeBron looked just as much of a natural taking the ball past players on the pitch as he does while dribbling past players on the court.
In fact, it was even told that LeBron was very close to starting off with his career in football as stated by the man himself the Dallas Cowboys of the NFL reportedly wanted to sign the young LeBron James.
So what did Shannon have to say about the question?
Shannon Sharpe disagreed with the hypothetical scenario because according to him, just because LeBron is one of the all-time greats in basketball doesn’t mean he would be a football great too.
According to Shannon, “because somebody is great at one sport, we automatically think he will be great at another” is an invalid notion which needs to be stopped.
Shannon also added that there are many high school football players who do not make it to the NFL, and just considering the notion that LeBron would’ve been a football great is disrespectful to the game of football.
Even though Skip Bayless argued against Shannon’s opinion, the NBA analyst stuck by his take as he maintained it would’ve been a tall order for King James to be the King of the Gridiron.
