Memphis Grizzlies’ all-star point guard Ja Morant made history with a 49-point performance against the Houston Rockets – another record
Ja Morant is a young and unstoppable force in the league. Last night, he created history with his performance.
Morant made a statement with his 49-point performance against the rockets and became the player with top-5 single-game point leading scorer in the history of Grizzlies. These stats are inclusive of the regular season and playoffs.
Other than that, now the Memphis point guard is only the fifth player in the history of the league for a single franchise. Morant is on the elite list with the NBA greats.
The other four players with the same record are Wilt Chamberlain for Golden State Warriors, Michael Jordan for Chicago Bulls, Dame Lillard for Portland Trailblazers, and James Harden for Houston Rockets.
Morant is in his fourth year and this 23-year-old is in conversation about being the MVP of the season this year already.
Ja Morant now holds the top-5 single-game point totals in Grizzlies history, including regular season and playoffs.
Ja is hitting 3-pointers, and mid-range jumpers, and finishing near the ring. So far, he has been a three-level scoring masterpiece with his performance. With his 49-point performance, he has already set the Grizzlies’ record for most points in a season’s first two games.
With 83 points through the first two games of the season, the Grizzlies All-Star broke his own franchise record. As a result of his 34 points in Memphis’ season opener against the New York Knicks, Morant scored 49 in this game against the Houston Rockets.
The Grizzlies are off to a great start this season with 2-0. They are looking young and passionate about winning as they showed in the initial two games of this year.
Memphis’ point guard scored 28 points in the second half which mounted up to 49 points and a win. Morant was not missing from behind the arc and his teammates were also making crucial three-pointers.
The Grizzlies played its first two games without Zaire Williams and Dillon Brooks. Brooks is reportedly out for the next game against Luka Donic and the Dallas Mavericks.
