NBA superstar James Harden has claimed that he lost 100 pounds during the off season.
James Harden is widely regarded as one of the most prolific shooters in the game right now, as well as one of the top overall players in the NBA. However, his form saw a decline in the last couple of seasons as he seemed to put on an extra bit of weight–probably owing to the injury trouble that he had in the period.
However, it turns out that the old Harden might be back. It has been rumoured that Harden put in the hours at the gym over the course of the summer, and got to what many are saying as the “best shape of his life.” Though Harden visibly has lost plenty of weight and looks much better than he has over the past couple of seasons, the exact amount of weight that he has lost has not been confirmed – until Harden himself confirmed it.
The Philadelphia 76ers superstar addressed the media recently at the customary media day at the start of the season, a season that would be his first full season with the 76ers – after completing a sensational switch from the Brooklyn Nets in February this year. Harden sat down alongside his friend and teammate Joel Embiid as he took on the series of questions from the reporters.
One of those questions, as many would have expected, asked Harden about the amount of weight that he lost in the off season. Harden’s answer and his reaction went viral all over social media.
On being asked about how much weight he lost, Harden immediately responded with his answer: “100 pounds.”
Harden’s response of “100 pounds” was followed by a “tweet that” – as he took aim at his critics. Harden also elaborated: “I think at this point it’s the dieting, the proper rest and for me, just strengthening the muscles – and gaining muscle mass. Which I’ve always had, but these last two years were not healthy enough to put the proper work in like I’m used to – so this summer was huge.”
One of the hilarious aspects about the interaction was none other than Embiid’s reaction beside Harden – Embiid could hardly hold a smirk back right from when the question was asked, to when Harden was done answering to the question.
