James Harden angered at poor form of Brooklyn Nets after six-game slump
Brooklyn Nets star James Harden has expressed his disappointment about his team’s poor form in 2022. The Nets have lost their last 6 games in a row and are 3-7 in their last 10 games. The last of the losses came in a 112-101 defeat at the hands of Sacramento Kings.
“I think we’ve done too much talking,” Harden said after a poor performance from him in the field. “It’s just, we got to go out there and do it, and do it consistently. We have times when we’re great, and we have times when we’re really bad. We just got to find some consistency throughout the course of games more times than not.” (h/t ESPN)
Harden scored just four points and went 2-for-11 shooting from the field. Another added blow is the absence of MVP frontrunner Kevin Durant, who sprained the MCL in his left knee on Jan. 15th. Harden remains confident that the Nets can win at a high level with everyone back from injury. The 32-year old recently returned from a hamstring injury and a right hand strain and looked out of sorts on his return.
Kyrie Irving, who has missed all home games for the Nets due to his vaccination status has been in decent form. He has averaged 23.6 points since his return at the end of 2021. However, the trio have barely played with each other. Since the start of 2021 Durant, Irving and Harden have played a meagre 16 games together. The Nets will be hoping to have all 3 stars back ahead of the NBA Playoffs. Moreover, they still have work to do in their last 30+ games to guarantee an automatic berth into the NBA Playoffs.
Is coach Steve Nash feeling the Heat?
Coach Steve Nash will be disappointed with where his team stands in the Eastern Conference standings. The franchise have lost 22 games this season with a 0.569 winning percentage.
“This trip our objective was to get better,” Nash said. “The first two games and the first half tonight we were getting better. We were doing the things that they were asking. We didn’t contain the ball in the second half and we didn’t make any plays offensively. Some of that can come down to legs, but I think our guys have been great at keeping their spirits in, their focus in. They’re staying together.” (h/t ESPN)
Nash believes with an improvement in his team and Durant returning by March, Nets can be a serious contender to have a deep run in the Playoffs.
