James Harden has taken a pay cut of $15 million to extend his contract with the Philadelphia 76ers in order to win a championship.

James Harden has agreed to a two-year agreement with the Philadelphia 76ers that will result in a $15 million pay decrease for the 33-year-old player for the upcoming season.

Harden now has a new player option in year two of the contract after choosing not to exercise his $47 million player option.

James Harden forced his way out of the Brooklyn Nets to the Philadelphia 76ers, as he thought it would be a better situation for him. He was criticized for his decision, but now that decision seems right with what is happening in Brooklyn now.

According to Shams Charania of the Athletic: James Harden is taking a $15 million paycut for next season that allowed Philadelphia to elevate roster — with sole focus on a championship run in 2023. Harden opted out of his $47M player option and now plans to sign a new two-year deal with a player option in Year 2.
