Philadelphia 76ers head coach Doc Rivers is impressed with James Harden taking a pay cut to sign a new deal with the team.
James Harden will be receiving a significant pay cut for the upcoming season as a result of signing a new two-year contract with the Philadelphia 76ers. In year two of the contract, Harden now has a new player option after opting not to activate his $47 million player option.
James Harden forced a way out of Brooklyn to join the Philadelphia 76ers because he thought it would be a better situation for him. He got criticism for his decision, but in light of the events in Brooklyn, it now seems justified.
The head coach of the Philadelphia 76ers Doc Rivers is pretty happy to see Harden taking a pay cut in order to win a championship with the 76ers. He said, “I couldn’t be happier with James’ decision to commit to our organization. Over the last two years we have taken major steps toward our ultimate goal of becoming champions. James shares our drive to win a title.”
James Harden knows that the Philadelphia 76ers are absolutely stacked. They have a great chance of winning the championship, and that is the reason why he opted to stay here.
Talking about the new deal Harden said, “This is where I want to be. This is where I want to win, and I think we have the pieces to accomplish that goal. From my first day with the 76ers organization, the team and the fans have helped me feel at home here in Philadelphia”
