Jaylen Brown scored a huge triple-double as Celtics win against the Knicks
Just a night before, Boston Celtics blew 25 points lead against New York Knicks and lost the game to RJ Barrett’s dagger 3-pointer their coach called out his stars to respond with leadership and composed manner to win games while opponents are making huge surges towards victory. Well, Jaylen Brown at least did what the coach was looking for.
The Celtics hosted New York Knicks in what is supposed to be a reverse fixture between the two. This time Celts had home support and they replayed their faithful with a dominant win over the Knicks.
The Knicks were without Evan Fournier, their top scorer of the previous game, and game-winner RJ Barrett was the top scorer for the Knicks but couldn’t do the same magic again at TD Garden. Julius Randle had a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds for low-scoring NYK.
The Celtics led by Brown produced a massive defensive display limiting the Knicks to only 75 points – lowest against Boston this season. While Jaylen Brown was effective in both offense and defense with 22 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 assists, Jayson Tatum and Josh Richardson also scored 19 and 17 points respectively. The Celtics won 99-75.
Jaylen Brown is in his 6th season with the Celtics and is part of the young core of the team. He has a good partnership with Jayson Tatum, while Marcus Smart completes the “Big-3” for the Celts.
Brown averages 15.7 points, 2 assists, and 5 rebounds per game in 362 matches for the team. His on-court productivity has seen constant improvement every season. The 2021-22 season is his best career season so far, averaging above 24 points, 2.5 assists, 6 rebounds, and 1 steal per game.
But it was an interesting fact that it took the 6th season for the talented Celtic’s 2021 all- Star forward to get his first-ever triple-double. Nevertheless, the timing of the triple-double stat cannot be best for the team as they complete their redemption in style.
Boston Celtics now replace Knicks in the 10th place in the East. The Celtics will host Indiana Pacers next on 10th Jan 2022.
