Boston Celtics returned in winning ways as Jayson Tatum gave a huge game performance.
After mixed results in previous games, Boston Celtics bounced back with a strong performance against the Wizards. Jayson Tatum had some poor run offensively by his standards, but with a huge 50 point game, he might just have silenced his critics.
Tatum shot blanks behind the arc in the previous 3 games. But he was 3 of 3 in the 1st quarter only. He ended the game with 9 threes. He was 18-28 from the field. Tatum scored 31 points in the 1st half alone. Then he went on to get to his season-high 51 points, in the 4th quarter only with 4 minutes on the clock.
The Wizards coach Wes Unseld Jr made was at the courtside after serving his Covid-19 protocol period. But the team couldn’t give him cheers on his return, as they never took lead in the game. Wizards managed to score only 87 points in the game with a complete starting lineup tallying 45 points in the game.
Tatum single-handedly outscored the whole Wizards starting 5. Bradley Beal managed 19 points and 7 assists. Deni Avdija was 2nd top scorer with 12 points and 7 rebounds for the team. Jaylen Brown had a double-double with 10 rebounds and 18 points.
Tatum is seen as an offensive driving force for Boston Celtics. He is their top scorer for 3rd consecutive season. He averages at least 22+ points in those seasons, up-scaling his points every season.
Tatum has already tied with the Celtics’ great Larry Bird record of most points in a game by Celtics player. He had 60 points against San Antonio Spurs last season at TD Garden. Now with his 3rd 50+ point game, he is 1 step closer to Bird’s record of most 50+ point games for the Celtics.
He also had career-high 9 three-pointers in the game. Boston Celtics will host Sacramento Kings on 25th Jan 2022.
