Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum is having a wild season as he is currently topping this season’s scoring charts ahead of Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant and Luka Doncic.
The new NBA season is slightly over a month old, with teams slowly taking shape in the Conference standings. Similarly, players have also set precedents with their early season form in the race for the Top Scorer of the NBA and the Most Valuable Player award – and while there are many of the usual suspects involved, there are a few surprises at the top of the list.
In a twist that no one saw coming, it turns out that Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum leads the NBA Top Scorer rankings for this season. The Celtics star has been in sensational form since the start of the season, but few would have bet on him to lead the scoring rankings when we are a good run of games into the season – and put him ahead of seasoned veterans of the game.
Tatum has racked up a whopping tally of 550 points for the Celtics this season, a tally that places him first on the NBA Top Scorers ranking for the season. The 24-year-old Celtics star averages 30.6 points, 7.9 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game this season, and has led his team to the top of the Eastern Conference rankings with his incredible touch of form.
Who is Jayson Tatum followed by in the top scorer rankings?
While Tatum is currently first on the list for the highest scorers in this season of the NBA, he is followed by seasoned pros and some of the best in his generation.
The Brooklyn Nets’ Kevin Durant with 548, Luka Doncic of the Dallas Mavericks with 544, and Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors with 538 closely followed Tatum. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of Oklahoma City Thunder, the Cleveland Cavaliers’ Donovan Mitchell and the Atlanta Hawks’ Trae Young make up the list with tallies of 528, 481 and 470 points respectively.
Tatum will hope to perform in such outstanding touch as he hopes to take his team to the Finals yet again as he did last season, and this time even try and go one step further than last time.
