Utah Jazz General Manager Justin Zanik has shared why they accepted a trade for Donovan Mitchell from the Cleveland Cavaliers this summer.
Donovan Mitchell secured a trade from Utah Jazz to the Cleveland Cavaliers this summer, in what can termed as one of the high-profile deals of the summer.
Amidst all the hype regarding his move, Utah Jazz General Manager came clean on why he allowed Mitchell to make a switch.
The rumours of Mitchell wanting a trade away from the Jazz were relevant all summer, but his decision to join Cleveland Cavaliers came as a bit of a surprise considering that he was in talks with another franchise throughout the off season.
It was the New York Knicks who showed a major interest in signing the NBA superstar, but eventually failed to get the deal over the line.
Utah Jazz were accused of conspiring against the Knicks – to the extent of even having a personal vendetta against them – but the Jazz General Manager Justin Zanik has brought an end to the speculation by coming clean about the trade, which was “nothing but business.”
Zanik addressed the press recently as he spoke about the Donovan Mitchell trade deal.

The Utah Jazz GM spoke about the trade deal and why they accepted the bid from the Cavaliers.
Speaking to the press about the trade deal, Zanik said: “It was the best offer on the table.” Zanik went on to say: “I think for them, they saw an opportunity to open up a window. With Donovan and the young group, I think they’re gonna be very good.”
The Utah Jazz General Manager added: “In order to get something in return, you gotta give up something and they certainly gave up a lot. It was meaningful for them, and it was a meaningful trade that we liked as well.”
It will certainly excite us to see the Cavaliers shape up with Mitchell in their ranks.
