Owner and president of Los Angeles Lakers, Jeanie Buss opened on and praised LeBron James.
Jeanie Buss recently appeared in an interview where she cleared every speculation that was going on after her tweet on Kobe.
A couple of months ago, Buss tweeted to pay homage to the late Kobe Bryant and fans on Twitter thought it was shot at NBA superstar LeBron James, who is also a Laker.
On August 4, LeBron James became eligible for a contract extension and two weeks later, he signed it. His contract will be in effect until the summer of 2025, with a 2024 termination option available. He also wants to play with his son and that is also a possibility in 2024.
Recently Jeanie appeared in an interview and explained his relationship with LeBron James. Buss wants Bron to retire in the purple and gold.
In the interview, she said about LeBron, “We have a line of communication between the two of us, and he knows that he can reach me anytime and vice versa. I think he feels appreciated.”
She added, “I think he feels appreciated, I know I appreciated that he signed an extension to stay here and continue to laker team. He is a fantastic leader on and off the court and I feel like we are blessed to have him as a Laker, I want to see him retire as a Laker.”
She also talked about Kareem-Abdul Jabbar’s record of highest scorer that LeBron is all set to break this upcoming season. She expressed how a Laker breaking that record has a deeper meaning and she feels very happy to have James on the team.
The Lakers missed the last playoffs with an embarrassing regular season despite a top-tier performance from LeBron James. The Lakers forward is only 1,326 points away from surpassing Lakers Hall of Famer Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
LeBron is entering his year 20 in NBA and aiming for his fifth ring, the second one with the Lakers. He will most likely break the record of highest scorer ever during the middle of the season as well.
The healthy Anthony Davis, Russell Westbrook, and newly recruited Patrick Beverley add depth to the team and make the Lakers a title contender for NBA season 2022-23.
