Jimmy Butler and his Miami Heat were at full strength when they locked horns against the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday Day. While Erik Spoelstra had just beaten the same opposition last month, they were deemed as the favorites to win this showdown at Cryto.com Arena as well.

With no LeBron James or Anthony Davis on the court for Darvin Ham, Dennis Schroder, Thomas Bryant, and Russell Westbrook took the task of taking the game to the Miami Heat. After leading by as much as 13 points, the away side took a 6-point in the fourth quarter, showcasing just how well they can attack the rim against a ‘shorter’ Lakers side.

However, Schroder dropped 14 of his 32 points in the fourth quarter, including a couple of clutch free throws to ensure Los Angeles Lakers’ lead in the dying moments. As a result of which, Jimmy Butler had less than 3 seconds to launch a dagger from downtown to send the game to OT. But that wasn’t to be the case.

Jimmy Butler’s message to his Miami Heat

Miami Heat’s tendency to play down the competition was asked to Butler this shocking loss. To which the 33-year-old gave a rather cold yet honest response. He said, as per South Florida Sun Sentinel’s Ira Winderman, “Honestly speaking, I think we tend to do that. It’s not very professional.”

Butler is in his 12th NBA Season and is averaging 21.5 points, 6.4 rebounds, 5.7 assists and 2.2 steals per game. Moreover, his efficiency from downtown as well as from the field has witnessed an incredible rise in the 2022-23 Season. But will that be enough for this team to make a deep run in the playoffs this time?
