The Philadelphia 76ers have revealed that star center Joel Embiid is set to miss their next two games with a foot injury.
The Philadelphia 76ers are having quite a decent season, with eight wins and eight losses as they sit at eighth in the Eastern Conference standings. However, their form this season is despite all the injury trouble that they have dealt with, as they currently have starters such as the likes of James Harden out with a right foot sprain as well as Tyrese Maxey out with a broken foot.
However, they have not missed their absentees as much as they would have – purely because of the dominance that Joel Embiid has shown this season. The big Cameroonian-French center is having a dominant season as he has taken up from where he left last season on top of the NBA scoring charts and has dragged the Sixers despite rarely having a full roster of support.
However, the bad news for Sixers’ fans continues as it has been revealed that Embiid has now injured himself too. Embiid will miss the next two games for the Philadelphia 76ers with a left mid-foot strain, the club announced Monday. The 28-year-old will be sidelined for Tuesday’s home game against the Brooklyn Nets and Wednesday’s game at the Charlotte Hornets.
Embiid’s unavailability will be a huge miss for the Sixers as he has undoubtedly been their best player in the early stretches of the season.
How has Joel Embiid been for the Philadelphia 76ers this season?
It would be fair to say that Joel Embiid has been in incredible form for the Philadelphia 76ers this season.
In 12 games this season, Embiid has averaged 32.3 points – second in the league to Luka Doncic of the Dallas Mavericks – plus 10.1 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 1.8 blocked shots. Embiid has been in MVP form as he also dropped a career-best 59 points against the Utah Jazz, and proved to be nearly unstoppable on his day – meaning the Sixers will hugely miss their talismanic center.
It has been revealed that after missing the Sixers’ next two games, Embiid will be reevaluated by the Sixers ahead of their contest against the Orlando Magic in Orlando on Friday night.
