Joel Embiid gave his 100% on Thursday Night as Oklahoma City Thunder beat the Philadelphia 76ers in humiliating fashion. Given their recent form, not many expected the young and inexperienced Thunder side to top an in-form unit. While Shai Gilgeous-Alexander dropped game-high 37 points, Embiid wasn’t far away.
The Cameroonian International was on the court for a total o 28 minutes as the All-Star big man went off for 30 points on 10-of-17 shooting to go along with 10 rebounds, two assists, and a block for a team which failed to support him on the offensive end. Moreover, the charismatic center also went 10-of-10 to cap off his impressive evening in a lost cause.
Interestingly, this was the first time we have encountered a player drop such a stellar feat since Kareem Abdul Jabbar in 1975.
Moreover, the interesting fact of the matter is that the resilient Philadelphia 76ers still lost at home to a sub-.500 Thunder side. Embiid is not the type who basks in his personal accolades, so he’ll be more focused on the loss here. Given that Boston Celtics are extending that lead at the numero uno spot will be in the mind of this MVP favorite.
That being said, Embiid will now want to keep his hot streak going as the Sixers embark on a five-game road trip that starts on Saturday against the Utah Jazz, and then the unpredictable Los Angeles Lakers.
