Karl Anthony Towns calls out ESPN for hyping fans by putting out fake reports

Karl Anthony Towns has been out of the Minnesota Timberwolves since November 28 as he was ruled out due to a calf strain. The marquee scorer for his side has missed 26 games for his side after featuring last against Washington Wizards. However, while the 27-year-old is out of action, he still cannot take reports hyping his return.

As per ESPN’s Adrian Woj’s report – KAT was bound to miss four to six weeks and place a timetable for his return in January. However, citing the same, Karl Anthony Towns came out to bury all such reports as he spoke about his injury for the first time since being sidelined.

Towns revealed that his injury was indeed a grade III calf sprain with a possible recovery timeline of over two months rather than the reported four to six weeks which would be the case only if it was a Grade II injury.

Karl Anthony Towns bashes ESPN for publishing fake reports

“I wish it was four to six weeks. I knew then it wasn’t going to be four to six,” Towns said. “The team was trying to say four to six. There was no way with the injury I sustained, it’s a very significant injury. I don’t know if they were trying to give false hope to the fans or what the case may be.”

Karl Anthony Towns and Anthony Edwards

For those who are not aware, the basic idea to even bring in Rudy Gobert was to give more freedom on the offensive end. The plan seemed to be a hit as Karl Anthony Towns averaged 20.8 points per game, 8.2 rebounds, and 5.3 assists while shooting 50.5 percent from the field and 32.5 percent from the three-point line. But since he has been out, it has been Anthony Edwards who has taken charge of command.
