Kawhi Leonard has only played two games this season and has sat out the last 5 games due to injury
Kawhi Leonard has played only two games and 42 minutes this season with what appears to be knee stiffness. Leonard has missed the Los Angeles Clipper’s last 5 games with this injury and is reportedly frustrated with his progress. He missed the entire 2021-22 NBA season after receiving surgery to repair a partially torn right ACL.
During a recent segment on ESPN Ohm Youngmisuk reported that Kawhi Leonard has avoided serious injury. The Los Angeles Clippers are just being cautious with their star player’s recovery. The Clippers are doing this to ensure that Leonard’s completely healthy when he comes back.
Kawhi Leonard has missed a lot of games in his career, especially in the last 5 seasons. Leonard has not played more than 60 games since the 2016-17 NBA season. The Clippers are going to be resting him early in the season to ensure that he’s fully healthy for the playoffs.
The Clippers have looked terrible without Leonard and have depended heavily on Paul George to win games. Players such as Luke Kennard, Norman Powell, and Reggie Jackson have looked poor to start the season. Besides that, it looks like the Clippers have not understood their best lineup this season.
Will the Los Angeles Clippers be NBA Championship contenders this year?
The Clippers do not look like Championship contenders this season and until Kawhi Leonard returns it looks unlikely. The Clippers look like a team that will struggle to make the playoffs. If they don’t find a more sustainable formula to win games, it might be an ugly season for them.
In recent years Paul George has been injury-prone as well and if he gets injured, the Clippers will suffer immensely. If George and Leonard get injured, the Clippers may find themselves in the Play-In Tournament or out of the playoffs.
