The Knicks coach gives a positive update on Kemba Walker’s injury

New York Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau gave an update on Kemba Walker’s “scratch” knee injury. He said that Walker is being tested day-to-day with general knee soreness. Thibodeau also said the test results received on Monday were “good news.”

As per Marc Berman of the New York Post report, Kemba received said injury during pregame warm-ups on Friday. The Knicks were playing against Oklahoma City Thunders, but Kemba Walker was sidelined due to left knee soreness. The incident happened just before the game time, forcing the Knicks to make quick adjustments.

It is confirmed that there is no structural issue with the knee, which was surgically repaired earlier in his Boston Celtics playing days. About Walker’s injury report, Thibodeau said, “Yeah, it came back positive, so just general soreness. So, it’ll be day-to-day. We want everything to calm down with him.”

But Walker’s return date is not confirmed yet. Kemba was kept out of the rotation by the Knicks coach after a series of poor performances. But due to the Covid-19 outbreak, Walker was recalled.

What does Kemba Walker injury mean to New York Knicks?

After a poor start to the season, Walker is averaging around 14 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 4 assists per game this season. His production was much better averaging 114/6 points, 39/6 rebounds, and 5 assists in the last 6 games. The Knicks went on 4-2 during that period.

Walker has missed the last 4 games, where the Knicks managed to win 2 matches. The New York franchise is 10th in the east right now with a 19-20 record. Fournier, RJ Barrett, and Julius Randle are playing better right now, while miles bridge has taken the starting point guard position in absence of Walker. But the team will be hoping to get their star guard back early to push for the playoffs.

The Knicks will face Boston Celtics next on 8th January 2022.
