Kendrick Perkins has claimed that he loves Kevin Durant playing in his new position for the Brooklyn Nets.
The Brooklyn Nets defeated the New York Knicks in their latest outing at the Barclays Center on Wednesday night. After the last couple of weeks filled with controversy that saw Kyrie Irving get suspended for five games without pay courtesy of his promotion of an anti-Semitic film as well as the sacking of Steve Nash, it seems like the Nets do have something to smile about now.
It was a spirited performance from the Nets in their first game under the management of new head coach Jacque Vaughn, who seems to have revitalized the Nets in a very short amount of time. The Nets – who have struggled with their defense and have not been consistent with their offense either – got it all to work as they won their first game by over 30 points this season.
In fact, the Nets on Wednesday night barely looked like the side that have been so porous on the defensive front so far this season, and defended strong and hard all night. On the offensive front, Kevin Durant was at his best as he racked up a game-high 29 points, 12 rebounds and 12 assists – the Nets superstar came up with a triple-double in arguably his best performance of the season.
Even though Durant has been in fine form since the beginning of the season, he looked like he was on another league in Wednesday night’s encounter. It could be credited to a change of role for the star player, as acknowledged by former NBA professional and analyst Kendrick Perkins.
What did Kendrick Perkins have to say about Kevin Durant’s new role?
Perkins spoke about how he likes Durant in his new role as the “point forward” instead of his usual role as the “small forward.”
Writing on his official Twitter account following the game, Perkins wrote: “So I guess I’m the only person that see that the Nets has been playing free and with great Joy over their last 4 games. Don’t mind tho and Carry the hell on… Btw I love KD when he plays that Point Forward position!”
Durant will certainly hope to keep up his form in his new role, as the Brooklyn Nets try and get their season back on track.
