Kendrick Perkins throws shade at Ben Simmons as Sixers beat Nets

Published by

Since Kevin Durant has been ruled out with an MCL sprain in his right knee, the Brooklyn Nets have not been able to register wins with ease. Their latest loss came against the Philadelphia 76ers, which surely painted Ben Simmons negatively all over again. From being booed at the Wells Fargo Center, to sitting out in the final stretch, the Australian playmaker has not been able to rise up to the occasion.

Ben Simmons

After this loss against the Sixers, the Nets have fallen to the 4th seed in the Eastern Conference. Ben Simmons was once again not at his best against Joel Embiid as he wasn’t just mocked and dominated but couldn’t even establish his presence on a court where once he was loved beyond words.

This only resulted in Kendrick Perkins lashing out at Ben Simmons as per a tweet from Legion Hoops.

Kendrick Perkins calls out Ben Simmons

Perkins said, “I’m gonna change [Ben Simmons’] name to Ben Perkins. He had the same stat line as me… I’m starting to think he’s afraid of the moment.”

It seems like Kendrick Perkins has got the balls in his court whilst attacking the former DPOY candidate. The 26-year-old Nets star has been averaging 7.6 points, 6.7 rebounds, 6.4 assists, 1.4 steals, and 0.6 blocks across 36 appearances in the 2022-23 season. Not only that, Simmons is really struggling to score the ball from the free-throw line thus far, even by his standards. His current free-throw percentage of 44.6% is the lowest in his career by a wide margin.

That being said, will we witness Simmons making his most emphatic comeback? Or will Perkins continue to slaughter Ben in the coming weeks? Remains to be seen.
