Kevin Durant might have been surpassed by Giannis Antetokounmpo as the captain from the Eastern Conference, yet there was no one who could replace him as a starter despite him being out for several weeks due to an MCL sprain in his right knee.
The former MVP and two-time Champion went ahead with the fans for selecting him as a starter despite him being sidelined since the initial days of January.
One particular NBA writer, Shaun Powell of NBA.com, noted that Nets star Kevin Durant left off the media in his tweet. Instead of thanking them, the Nets star had a brutal response, one that’s even more savage than him saying no.
Why didn’t Kevin Durant didn’t thank the media?
Let me take you all back to how the NBA All-Star voting works and probably why Kevin Durant still holds grudges against media personnel. The starters are voted by fans, players, and the media. Durant was the second-place vote-getter for both the media and the players, behind captain Giannis Antetokounmpo. Curiously, though, the Nets star came in at fourth, behind Giannis Antetokounmpo, Joel Embiid, and Jayson Tatum.
The Nets star doesn’t care for media personalities on TV drumming up drama for the sake of ratings. So, it comes to be no surprise that the Slim Reaper wanted no part of an appreciation for them. But hopefully, he can take over the 2023 All-Star game in Utah.
