Kevin Durant had a special message for new Brooklyn Nets head coach Jacque Vaughn after the Nets defeated the New York Knicks on Wednesday night.
The Brooklyn Nets defeated the New York Knicks at the Barclays Center on Wednesday night. The Nets who have been at the centre of controversy for a number of weeks now were under the management of new head coach Jacque Vaughn, and looked like a revitalized outfit that defeated the New York Knicks by 112-85 to mark their first win under the new head coach.
The Nets were thrown into the middle of controversy with the infamous Kyrie Irving anti-Semitism row, and eventually culminated in the star being suspended for five games without pay – all while Steve Nash got his marching orders as well. With everything surrounding the franchise, the Nets appointed Jacques Vaughn as their new head coach for the season.
Vaughn’s first task was to revitalize the defense and find a way to get the best out of Kevin Durant, and it would be fair to say that he did both of the duties asked of him when the Nets went up against the New York Knicks at the Barclays Center on Wednesday night. The Nets won three quarters out of four and were helped to a convincing win – the first one under Vaughn.
The scenes in the locker room following the win were refreshing as the Nets got used to winning under their new coach – and Kevin Durant delivered a special message to mark the occasion.
The Nets superstar delivered a special message for the Nets’ new head coach who won his first game in charge of the Brooklyn franchise.
While Vaughn walked into the locker room following his post match press duties after the win, the team greeted him with a warm reception. While the team looked freshened by the presence of a new head coach, Kevin Durant took out the time to address Vaughn with a few words.
“The interim tag is gone. Head coach, first win, congratulations” said Durant as he tossed the ball to Vaughn, for whom it was a special moment with his new players.
