Kevin Durant highlighted a wholesome full-circle moment after passing NBA legend Vince Carter on the all-time scoring list.
The Brooklyn Nets emerged victorious over the Indiana Pacers at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn on Monday night. The Nets who had a struggling start to the season with only 1 win in 6 games rallied to return to winning ways and completed a 116-109 victory over the Indiana Pacers to help themselves to a second victory of the season – courtesy of a certain Kevin Durant.
Kevin Durant was at his best as he helped the Nets to their second win of the season with a performance where he racked up 36 points. Alongside his 36 points, Durant racked up 9 rebounds and 7 assists as well – and scored more than anyone else on the court. KD scored 13 out of his 22 field goals, but his best moment on the court on Monday came from a free throw.
It was from a free throw in the first quarter that Kevin Durant became the 19th-highest scorer of all time in the history of the NBA. Durant took 19th place on the all-time chart after overtaking Vince Carter on 25,728 points, while his 36-point performance took his all-time tally to 25,754 points – but it meant all the more for the Nets man considering his admiration for the man he overtook.
Durant spoke about how the achievement meant all the more for him as he addressed the press following the game.
The Nets superstar addressed the press after the win, and highlighted what was a wholesome full-circle moment for him after passing Vince Carter on the all-time scoring list. When asked about how he felt about overtaking Carter, Durant professed his love for the sport and also spoke about what it meant to pass somebody he looked up to as a kid on the all-time NBA scoring charts.
“My first NBA jersey was Vince Carter when he was in Toronto… this is a full circle moment for me”, said an emotional Durant as the video went viral on social media in no time. Durant has started the season on a high with 32.57 points per game, and will hope to lead the Nets to a string of wins.
