While the entire concentration surrounding the NBA all time scoring list was on LeBron James, nobody saw the wrath of Kevin Durant until the Brooklyn Nets beat the Cleveland Cavaliers in their most recent showdown, 125-117. The latter star was not even in the Top 20 players when the 2022-23 season commenced, however now he has managed to surpass Tim Duncan for the 15th spot.
What’s even more impressive? It was only in November that the Slim Reaper went onto surpass Vince Carter for the 19th spot in the all time scoring list. In just less than 50 days, the3-time NBA Champion has gone onto leave behind San Antonio Spurs legend, Tim Duncan for the 15th place in sheer style.
Being just 13 points behind Duncan, Durant finished his night with 32 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists, stretching his team’s winning run to 9 in the process. Special mention goes out to Kyrie Irving, who too dropped 32 points on the night.
For those who are not aware, the 34-year-old was averaging 29.9 points on 56.3% shooting from the field, scoring a total of 958 points through 32 games played. Making him rank amongst the top candidates for the MVP accolade once again.
On the other hand, one could imagine that if Kevin Durant continues to score at the same pace, he could surely finish in the Top 10 (given the points-differential) by the end of the 2022-23 season. If he reaches the playoffs, who knows where we could witness KD finishing? Remains to be seen.
