Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant is in the Top 3 of the NBA MVP race.
The Brooklyn Nets look unstoppable right now. As the NBA heads to the All-Star break, the Nets look invincible with their recent games record.
After a disastrous start to the 2022-23 NBA season, the Nets have slowly turned around themselves. At this point, they are sitting second in the Eastern Conference and have won 9 of their last 10 games.
Further, the lethal duo of Nets, Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving are leading the team from the front and are doing wonders every night on the team.
Between the partnership of Durant and Irving, 34-year-old Kevin Durant has been phenomenal. Durant’s impact is hugely visible and he is currently even considered as a dominant MVP candidate.
Kevin Durant is ranked 3rd in the latest NBA rankings for Most Valuable Player award
In the last outing of Brooklyn, the Nets faced the New Orleans Pelicans. The Nets emerged as the winner as they defeated NOLA 108 – 102.
As usual Kevin Durant had an excellent night, finishing the game with 33 points, 10 rebounds, and 3 assists in 38 minutes.
After the game against the Pelicans, KD is now averaging a massive 30 points per game with a field goal percentage of 56% in this NBA season 0f 2022-23. These averages are undoubtedly Durant’s career-best in several categories.
This kind of stats is rarely possible given Durant’s age. At an age when NBA players descend from their prime, Durant is seeing nothing but immense ascent.
So, it will be no surprise if Kevin Durant ends up winning The Michael Jordan Trophy (MVP award) at the end of this superb NBA regular season.
Moreover, for the first time this season, Kevin Durant has cracked the top three of the Kia Race to the MVP Ladder.
Currently, KD is producing career highs in field-goal percentage (56.0), effective field-goal percentage (61.5) and free-throw percentage (93.5). Now, if he finds a way to boost his current 3-point percentage (37.6) — which won’t be easy — he’d be on the way to a second career 50-40-90 campaign.
Notably, there are just nine NBA players in the distinguished 50-40-90 club, as well as one from the WNBA (Elena Delle Donne) and one from the NBA G League (Quinn Cook).
