Kevin Durant was named the cover athlete alongside two other legends for the upcoming NBA 2K22 video game

Kevin Durant will be one of the cover athletes alongside two other NBA legends, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Dirk Nowitzki.

The three athletes will grace the cover of NBA 2K22’s 75th-anniversary edition. The standard edition and the Cross-Gen Digital Bundle edition will feature Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic as the cover athlete.

The game is set to hit the shelves on the 10th of September, later this year.

Following the announcement of being one of the cover athletes alongside two of the game’s greats, Durant was elated. He took to Twitter to acknowledge the two legends, writing that it was an honor to share the cover alongside them:

“Honored to share @NBA2K’s 75th anniversary cover with the greats @kaj33 @swish41.”

Nowitzki spent almost 22 years at the Dallas Mavericks. During the course of his career, the power forward won numerous awards and honors. He is a 14-time NBA All-Star and one time NBA MVP winner (2007).

Candace Parker becomes the first female cover athlete in NBA 2K history

Besides the three covers, an alternative WNBA cover was revealed by 2K as well. It featured WNBA star Candace Parker of the Chicago Sky. Parker, thereby became the first female cover athlete in the history of NBA 2K.

Taking to Twitter, an elated Parker wrote:

“Extremely proud and humbled to be the first female cover athlete in the history of @NBA2K I’m honored to work with a company that’s investing in women and betting on us to succeed. I’m hopeful there will be many more badass females to follow.”
