When Kevin Durant revealed why he never saw the Brooklyn Nets could make a championship run, the former MVP stressed how they went onto drop 11 consecutive games last season in his absence. Kyrie Irving is leaving no stone unturned in making KD feel the same way again.
After sustaining an injury of the same kind (MCL sprain) even in the 2022-23 season, it seemed like Durant is going to witness the Nets suffer in the same manner as they dropped four consecutive games until Kyrie Irving finally decided to take matters in his own hands against the San Antonio Spurs.
The 2016 NBA Champion, Irving dropped his season best tally of 48 points to break the Nets’ four-game losing streak. By no means was it an ordinary performance as Irving shot 18-of-29 from the field and 8-of-15 from three to go along with 11 rebounds, 6 assists, and 4 steals.
Kevin Durant’s reacts to Kyrie Irving’s heroics
For those of you who are not aware, Kyrie Irving is just the second player in Nets history to post 45 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists in a game, joining the legendary Slam Dunk Champion, Vince Carter (2007). On the same note, Kevin Durant voiced his approval Saturday by Tweeting out a video of his teammate’s highlights.
“Film study. There was some good s**t being put on film last night by number 11,” he said. “All I can do is shake my head.”
