Brooklyn Nets superstar Kevin Durant is currently playing alongside Patty Mills and Jacque Vaughn, both of whom have won championships with Tim Duncan led San Antonio Spurs in 2014 and 2007 respectively. On the same note, the former MVP elaborated upon his connection with San Antonio Spurs as he surpassed Tim Duncan in the all time scoring list.
Not being in the Top 20 players list in the all time scoring chart when the season began, Durant started his journey by surpassing Vince Carter in the month of November. Averaging more than 28 points per game even in his 15th season, it hasn’t taken the Slim Reaper much time to even leave behind Duncan in the all time scoring list.
Needing just 13 points to surpass to do so, Durant dropped game-winning 32 points against the Cleveland Cavaliers to achieve the mentioned feat.
For those who are not aware, Durant and Duncan share some epic history. It was Durant and his Oklahoma City Thunder who ended Tim Duncan’s spell in the NBA after they eliminated the Spurs legend in the Western Conference semifinals.
This is just one of the many reasons, Durant has such immense respect for San Antonio Spurs’ greatest ever player.
“In my career, to be able to pass an all-time great, legend, somebody who shifted and changed the game, it’s something that I’ll call my folks about tonight and just talk over and reminisce how we got here,” Kevin Durant said.
