An angry Kevin Durant took to Twitter as he ripped into a reporter tweeting an inaccurate excerpt from the Brooklyn Nets’ media day.
Kevin Durant is widely regarded as one of the best players in the game right now, while some fans would even argue his case to be named in the conversation for the greatest basketball player in history. However, despite his undisputed ability on the court that makes him one of the best in the game, Durant is not the most popular figure for dealing with the media.
The Brooklyn Nets superstar has had plenty of run-ins with the media, the latest of which occurred when he had another altercation with a reporter. The reporter in question, Matt Brookes posted an excerpt from the Nets’ media day press conference featuring Durant, but the Nets superstar reacted to it adversely and said that he was being misquoted by the reporter.
Brookes, an NBA reporter for the Nets Daily channel, posted an excerpt where Durant was supposedly talking about putting in another trade request if the Nets struggle this season. According to Brookes, he asked Durant if he would hand in another trade request – following his shenanigans earlier this summer – if the Nets end up struggling in the upcoming NBA season.
Durant’s supposed response to the question was “I don’t feel like I’ve gotta prove anything to Net fans after 3 years. I’m committed to moving forward with this team. If you’ve got doubts, that’s on you.” The question as well as the reply portrays an air of disinterest about Durant’s future with the Nets, and the two time champion took to Twitter to erase any doubts.
What did Durant have to say about the misquoted except?
Durant took to his Twitter to rectify the misquoted excerpt.
A seemingly angry Durant quoted Brookes’ tweet of the excerpt and said: “This s*** here is why I don’t like talkin to lames like you. This isn’t the question he asked but you love engagement on twitter so u will twist s*** up.”
Durant’s reply dealt with any of the speculation about himself being unsettled and constantly looking for a move away from the Nets, and was reassuring for the franchise’s supporters.
