Kevin Durant won social media over as he returned to the University of Texas.
Kevin Durant is widely regarded as one of the best players in the world right now if not the best, while some would even say that he is one of the best to ever step on a basketball court. However, despite his superhero status on the court, Durant is often in the headlines for all the wrong reasons – such as his infamous Twitter brawls as well as when his detractors take aim at him.
However, for a change, the Brooklyn Nets superstar won social media over when he returned to his alma mater in the University of Texas. Durant went to college at the University of Texas for a year where he represented the Texas Longhorns from 2007 to 2008, and it was his performances for the Longhorns that saw get drafted by the Seattle SuperSonics in the 2007 NBA draft.
Despite going on to have a 15 year long career since then where he has turned out for the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Golden State Warriors and the Brooklyn Nets, it turns out that KD has not forgotten his roots. The University of Texas’ Twitter posted pictures of Durant in the campus gym, going back to the place where he made a name for himself in the NCAA circuit.
And the fans felt extremely warm about something KD had done – for a change.
It would be fair to say that the fans liked the fact that KD is well in touch with his roots.
Under the University of Texas’ tweet titled “Unite the family #HookEm”, fans swarmed with replies such as “My GOAT”, “We love you KD”, “Best Player to come out of UT” while anoher reply said: “How cool for the players to #uniteTheFamily with KD! #HookEm”.
KD’s reunion with his alma mater certainly won a fair chunk of social media over.
