Kevin Love’s resurgence continues as he had another double-double in the latest game

Cleveland Cavaliers have surprised most NBA pundits with their young player’s performances but now veteran Kevin Love has emerged as a star performer for the Cavs

Cleveland Cavaliers players are making headlines in NBA with their slick plays and surprise wins overs stronger opponents. The team is currently 6th in the Eastern Conference with an impressive 21-17 record.

Till now it was their young players who were in the news with some majestic on-court production, but now Kevin Love’s in-game stats are also shining bright. Cavs veteran forward averages 14.7 points and 7.6 rebounds per game, but he managed to put up high numbers in his latest games.

Kevin Love’s latest effective performances are very positive signs for the Cavs

Experienced power forward was playing as a substitute role for many fixtures, giving more game time to highly capable young players. It limited Love’s on-court production. But now the Cavs can sense the possibility of the postseason, and Kevin has started playing a more vital role in every game.

He averages 24 points, 9 rebounds in the last 6 games, well above his season average. Also, Kevin is now clocking around 29 minutes in the last few games, instead of the previous average of 20 minutes per game.

Coach J. B. Bickerstaff had already praised Kevin Love saying “We need guys that we can depend on through the ups-and-downs. He is dependable.” Kevin has certainly given a lot lately to prove he is still dependable.

Kevin Love’s situation at the Cavs was uncertain. Cleveland was rebuilding with the young players and out of the playoffs for 3 consecutive seasons from 2019. Kevin had just won his 1st NBA Championship with the Cavs in 2016 and since then lost 2 finals to the Warriors.

Love was 29 years, considerably in his prime when he last made his playoff appearance. He extended his contract to 4 seasons with the Cavs in 2018, but LeBron James‘ Departure and the team’s poor form left him empty-handed for 3 years. It was rumoured that he is looking for a trade to a Championship potential team at that time.

But Cavaliers team has shown immense improvement, probably the most improved team in the 2022 season. Kevin Love, who was playing as a rotational player is also playing with high intensity now, a good sign for the minnows in the East.
