League sources and Golden State Warriors have confirmed that Klay Thompson will be available for the Sunday fixture
The stage is set for one of the most awaited returns in NBA history. The wait will be over on Sunday. Klay Thompson of Golden State Warriors (does he need any introduction?) will resume the hard-court with his team after 941 days.
Thomson was practicing his shots with his splash brother 3 days ago at Dallas. This was the hint that he might be available in-game or two periods and make Warriors’ already lethal attack more fearsome.
Thompson is not only known for his “splash” shooting but is a pretty good defender as well. He can guard the primary attacker on the wings, while Draymond Green and others will be protecting the rim. With Klay in the mix, the Warriors will have All-star caliber player on both ends of the floor. This will ease some load from Warriors stars.
Stephen Curry is having a bit of scoring slump lately in this season, as he was guarded heavily by the opponents. But with Thompson on the floor, the opponent’s defense will be diverse and Curry can get easier shots.

After a series of reports about Thompson’s rehab and progress, it was imminent that Thompson is ready to play in a competitive game. His agent also confirmed in December that Thompson can even play around 15-20 minutes a regular-season game, but he wants to make sure that he can even play in the clutch period for the team.
Coach Steve Kerr had also confirmed that Klay will be available once he clears the medical schedule on Saturday. Once Thomson received a green signal from the Warriors medical staff, warriors wasted no time declaring his return.
Thompson’s could make his return in a standing ovation, as he is loved by many (even outside his franchise fan base) and the news already got his fans emotional. Thomspon’s fan base is so big that he got a huge vote count in NBA All-Star 2022, even without playing on the court for more than 2 years.
