Former Los Angeles Lakers Point Guard Smush Parker has decided to make a comeback into the NBA. Unlike other retired or former NBA players, Parker doesn’t want to return as an analyst or a coach but as an NBA referee. Having shared the curt with legendary Kobe Bryant, the concerned former Lakers star wants to bounce back in the league as a game official.
For those who are not aware of Smush Parker’s career – he was often trolled for his lackluster numbers and Kobe Bryant said that it is beyond his understanding how Parker made his way into the league against the big dogs. To be precise this was at the time when Bryant did not have the best set of players around him to make a valid bid for the championship.
Having last been seen in the NBA 16 years ago, the former Fordham standout is looking to suit in the iconic black uniform to officiate the game.
Let us take a detailed look at the career of the future NBA referee, Parker, the 41-year-old played all 164 games for the Lakers alongside Kobe Bryant during the 2005-06 and 2006-07 seasons.
Moreover, Smush Parker started all but two of those games, too. During that span, Parker averaged 11.3 points, 2.9 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 1.6 steals per game. He played for five other teams in the NBA as well.
