Shannon and Skip discussed the possibility of Kyrie Irving joining LeBron James in the Lakers and how Kyrie always needed leaders around him to win games.
Kyrie Irving was one of the best point guards in the NBA and gets talked about a lot lately because of his frequent transfer to teams.
Irving is now in the news as he has not able to accomplish anything other than his tenure with Cleveland. His decision-making in choosing the teams and continuous injuries prevented him from shining in the league in the past couple of years.
Moreover, the Lakers reportedly were ready to offer two first-round picks for Irving along with Russell Westbrook, but it is not in talks anymore after the Lakers acquired Patrick Beverley.
Kyrie needs leaders around him
Kyrie has not been able to accomplish big in NBA when not surrounded by big names. From his initial years at Cleveland to his post-LeBron career, he is yet to prove himself as a leader.
Shannon said, “Kyrie is a phenomenal player but Kyrie is no saviour. Cause he didn’t save Boston, he hadn’t saved Brooklyn. Kyrie needs pieces around.”
He added, “He (Kyrie) needs leaders around him like LeBron, we will see what he can do with Kevin Durant, but Kyrie is never been a leader.”
They talked about this as the news of Kevin staying one more season with the Nets. they also talked about Kyrie’s initial years where he was not a leader and how Boston won more matches even after Kyrie’s departure.
Lakers Kyrie Trade Rumors
Lakers fans still believe that they can land Kyrie in 2023. In the words of Shannon “Maybe we’ll reunite with Kyrie with five titles on our belt after this year.” A healthy Kyrie can create problems for any team and the Lakers know it very well.
Kyrie won one championship and played exceptionally well when he was seniored by the 4-time champion, LeBron James. Lakers management is doing their best to make Kyrie wear purple and gold along with Bron to win another hardware.
