Kyrie Irving discusses the eventual reunion with James Harden and Kevin Durant this season

Brooklyn Nets’ star Kyrie Irving discussed his camaraderie with James Harden and Kevin Durant after the game against the Phoenix Suns.

Durant, who has been having a stellar season averaging more than 29 PPG, suffered a knee injury keeping him out for a substantial duration. Harden, who was missing due to a hamstring injury and a right hand strain is back with the Nets. Harden admitted after the game that he is still dealing with some pain, but will continue to make his recovery.

Irving himself made a late return to the team after being at the center of a controversy this season. The 29-year old refused to take the COVID-19 vaccination and is available only for away games. In a post match interview, he discussed the reunion of the ‘trio’, saying: (h/t HoopsHype)

“We think about it daily. It’s not something that’s shortsighted for us. We think about the long-term and how well we gel together as a trio. And when we say, “as a trio,” we’re not excluding anybody else on the team. But we just know that the energy runs through us when we’re flowing out there and when we’re playing.”

“We’ve only played a few games, I don’t know if it’s more than ten or anything like that, but it’s definitely on our wishlist, man. We just have to stay patient and just not lose the confidence that all the pieces will come through together at the right time,” concluded Irving.

NEW YORK, NEW YORK – MAY 22: Kyrie Irving #11 of the Brooklyn Nets is congratulated by teammates Kevin Durant #7 and James Harden #13 after Irving drew the foul against the Boston Celtics during Game One of their Eastern Conference first-round playoff series on May 22, 2021 at Barclays Center in the Brooklyn borough of New York City. The trio has only played 16 games since January 2021. Of those 16, only two games have been played as a unit this season. This has also resulted in them lagging behind in 6th place in the Eastern Conference. The return of Durant will surely be a big boost to the entire team ahead of the last leg of matches in the season.
