Kyrie Irving vaccination status latest headache for NBA

Has Kyrie Irving got the vaccination?

The Brooklyn Nets player Kyrie Irving and his vaccination status has become a point of discussion over the past few days. The Brooklyn Nets also hosted their media day on Monday ahead of the upcoming NBA season. Irving decided to join the event via Zoom and was not physically present at the event.

Irving was asked about his vaccination status to which he replied (h/t CNN):

“I would like to keep all that private.”

Irving was recently seen liking the posts from an Instagram page which seemed to have been following the conspiracy that vaccination is a move to implant the black people and control them for “a plan of Satan”.

Whether this conspiracy theory is the reason that Irving is not getting vaccinated or is it something else is yet to be seen.

What happens to unvaccinated players in the NBA?

With the commencement of the new season just under a month away, NBA is working on a new set of rules. The rules and protocols will be put in place to ensure the safety of all the players. Though NBA has not made it mandatory for all the players to get vaccinated and termed it as “their choice”.

Bradley Beal of the Washington Wizards is also unvaccinated (NBA)

However, vaccination has been made mandatory by New York and San Francisco. Which means the players of New York Knicks, Brooklyn Nets and Golden State Warriors are all required to get vaccinated. Any player who refuses to get vaccinated will not be allowed to play at their home arenas and also practice.

This would mean that Irving as of now is set to miss out on the home games of Brooklyn Nets for the season. Until and unless he gets vaccinated as well.
