The Lakers are still positive that they will land Kyrie Irving in free agency next year or this year before the trade line ends.
Skip and Shannon discussed the possibility of Kyrie Irving joining the Lakeshow and why the management of the Lakers is committed to bringing Kyrie when they can focus on the current roster.
NBA superstars like Kawhi Leonard and Paul George turned down the offers and never joined the team but they are still hoping that Kyrie will join the team either before the trade deadline ends this year or next season when Irving will be a free agent.
Skip is not impressed by Lakers management as they want to acquire Kyrie when he couldn’t even perform as per the standard last year and according to him, Kyrie was the main reason for Brooklyn to fail miserably.
Skip Bayless said, “It amuses me Shannon as your whole franchise (Lakers) now considers Kyrie Irving as a saviour when Kyrie Irving was the catalyst for tearing apart the Brooklyn Nets last year. You kept telling me they are sick and tired of this.”
Skip added, “Even going into next season as the potential ‘please come and save us.’ Don’t you find that a little awkward?” to which Shannon agreed.
Shannon emphasized the fact that the next season would be LeBron’s 21st year and the Lakers should be thinking about this year and not the next.
The Lakers focusing on Kyrie is not a good thought and they should be concerned about this year as LeBron will be playing his 20th year with a healthy AD and a motivated team.
The current team is a great combination of superstar and role players and they should be feeling positive to achieve something this year.
According to Shannon, the Lakers’ Damian Jones and Kendrick Nunn and how can help defensively with two of the league’s elite defenders in Anthony Davis who is returning this season fully recovered and newly acquired Patrick Beverley.
