The Los Angeles Lakers faithful on Twitter were left gobsmacked after learning of a stat as LeBron James recorded a triple double in their win over the New York Knicks.
The Los Angeles Lakers travelled to face the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday night. It was the visitors who came out on top against the hosts in a 129-123 road win, courtesy of yet another monstrous performance by the evergreen LeBron James who racked up a triple-double to help his team to an important win at the iconic MSG stadium against the Knicks.
LeBron James who turned 38 recently, has not slowed any signs of slowing down this season, and his incredible form as he tries to close in on Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s all-time scoring record reached another high after he recorded a triple-double on Tuesday. James racked up 28 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists against the Knicks to record 10+ points, rebounds and assists in a game.
No stranger to breaking records, James also moved into the fourth spot on the all-time assist leaderboard in NBA history with his performance that helped his team secure an important win. However, the fans of the Los Angeles Lakers on Twitter were left gobsmacked after a stat surfaced following the game.
Following the game against the Knicks, a stat surfaced that showed that it was only LeBron’s first triple-double of the season.
The stat did not seem to be a popular one at all as many confused fans questioned it. Fans – convinced that LeBron has scored a triple-double before this season – took to their Twitter accounts to write replies such as “Wait how I swear he’s had like one or two others”, “Nah that’s crazy that it’s his first” and “Ain’t no way that’s his first”.
In the gobsmacked fans’ defense, there have been plenty of times before this season that LeBron finished with 8 or 9 rebounds or assists – but narrowly failed to cross the triple-double mark.
