Patrick Beverley has had plenty of critics questioning his game ethics and style of play for years now. During each of his stint with a different team in the league, the 34-year-old guard has gone from being known as a defensive specialist to an underrated 3-Point shooter to someone who perhaps yells at his own teammates on the court.
This is perhaps the reason why the Los Angeles Lakers acquired him after a worrisome 2021-22 campaign. However, ever since he made his debut, Beverley has been struck by the Lakers-curse as he hasn’t been able to produce his best in any game. This is just why basketball fans in Hollywood haven’t been pleased with him just yet.
It is safe to say that apart from making some key assists, Patrick Beverley has been often found just running up and down the court. This has been the primary reason why fans are questioning him in the first place.
Patrick Beverley fires back at his critics
The 34-year-old guard who has had stint with Houston Rockets, Los Angeles Clippers and Minnesota Timberwolves as well was indeed the 42nd pick by his current team only in 2009. However, he wasn’t an instant success in the toughest basketball league as he only logged his first genuine pro minutes in Europe for Ukrainian SuperLeague outfit BC Dnipro. If wasn’t for Houston Rockets calling him that summer, who knows where Beverley would still be.
“I heard a stat that was crazy, and it was only 3,400 people have played in the NBA, and only 1,300 of them are alive. And that’s counting guys who only played like 1 game. There are 8 billion people on earth,” Patrick Beverley fires back at his critics on the latest episode of his own podcast via Basketball Network.
That being said, Beverley’s aptitude as a defender has earned him meaningful minutes and allowed him to grow into a key rotational piece. But could he do it ever-so-well for the team that brought him in the NBA? Remains to be seen.
