Lakers injury update: Anthony Davis is questionable for Sunday’s game against Denver

The Los Angeles Lakers season goes from bad to worse as it now turns out Anthony Davis is questionable for Sunday night’s clash against the Denver Nuggets.

The Los Angeles Lakers have had a disastrous start to their season. After an opening night loss to the Golden State Warriors, the Lakers followed it up with losses to the Los Angeles Clippers, the Portland Trail Blazers, the Denver Nuggets, and the Minnesota Timberwolves to boast of an unenviable 0-5 start to their season – and it does not look like getting better soon.

The Lakers will welcome the Nuggets to Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on Sunday night, looking to finally get their first win of the season – however, their buildup to the game has been marred by the news of Anthony Davis being a doubt for the game. According to the Lakers, their big center is questionable for the game after missing their last clash against the Timberwolves.

The status report issued by the Lakers ahead of Sunday night’s game shows that according to the Lakers, Anthony Davis is questionable to return to the lineup against Denver after a one-game absence against the Timberwolves. The reason for his questionable status has been listed as lower back soreness, and it does not bode too well for the often out of action Lakers superstar.

Davis injured his back after a landing in the defeat to the Denver Nuggets last week, and head coach Darvin Ham decided to not field Davis against the Wolves. Ham explained: “We don’t want to put him into a make-or-break situation too early in the season… And obviously we’re gonna need him in a major way to be healthy so, ‘Why risk it?’ was our thought process.”

Who else are mentioned on the Lakers’ status report ahead of Denver?

Apart from Davis, a few others are also mentioned on the Lakers’ status report.

The status report also mentions LeBron James as “probable” for the clash against Denver because of left foot soreness, while Juan Toscano is also questionable for the Lakers apart from Davis because of a left ankle sprain. Thomas Bryant and Dennis Schröder remain sidelined because of ligament damage, while Scotty Pippen Jr and Cole Swider are with the South Bay Lakers.

The Lakers will want Davis to be back in action as soon as possible as they try and control the damage to their already crumbling season.
