According to Skip Bayless’ claims, the most recent Mavs loss has Luka Doncic trailing an NBA player in the race for the MVP
The NBA’s first 60-20-10 game was recorded by Luka Doncic throughout a four-game winning streak, putting him squarely back in the MVP race.
The most often predicted winner of the NBA MVP award in 2022 opened the season as Luka Doncic. For a long period, especially during his unprecedented stretch of starting the season with nine straight games of at least 30 points scored, he was the front-runner. In comparison to his contemporaries, his campaign has suffered by a lack of team success.
Following the stats and situation, Skip Bayless has also made a statement about Luka Doncic leading the MVP race. Skip said in his tweet about Doncic that his team’s lack of success is pulling him behind in the MVP race.
After his historic effort, Doncic has improved his season averages to 33.6 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 8.8 assists. No player has ever averaged such numbers throughout the course of a season. He would join Michael Jordan as the only player in NBA history to average at least 32 points, eight rebounds, and eight assists for an entire season, even if he maintains that level.
Doncic is now favoured to win the MVP award with +260 odds. With the remaining players holding odds of +900 or worse, the top players behind him are Giannis Antetokounmpo (+500), Jayson Tatum (+275), and Nikola Jokic (+375).
It’s critical to understand that Doncic’s current MVP campaign is most severely restricted by team success, so the 19-16 record may not be as impressive as it appears. In games when Doncic participates, the Mavs have a record of 19-13. Nothing should stand in Doncic’s way of becoming the first Mavericks player to claim MVP since Dirk Nowitzki in 2006–07 as long as the Mavs keep winning.
